He also played a major role in brokering and managing a number of collaborations with major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. While there he directed work on a variety of protease and anti-viral programmes leading to compounds that have moved into clinical development.

Matt has a 1st class honours degree and a PhD from Imperial College London, where he worked with Professor William Motherwell. His post-doctoral research was at the Australian National University with Professor Athel Beckwith and then at Oxford University with Professor Sir Jack Baldwin. Following on from these studies, Matt worked for 7 years at the James Black Foundation, specialising in drugs that modulated G-protein coupled receptors.

Previously, Mick held the position of Managing Director of the UK division of the multinational pharmaceutical services provider, ASDI Biosciences Ltd. building $500K annual sales from for the company in 18 months from large and mid-size European pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Prior to ASDI Mick had nine very successful years as Director of Business Development at Hickson International (a chemicals and custom synthesis company), and further developed his expertise at Ashwood Products (a pharmaceutical fine chemicals manufacturer) and Exxon Chemical Ltd. (Petrochemical industry).

Mick earned his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Leicester, undertook post-doctoral studies at Oxford and holds an MBA from the University of Huddersfield.

Shirley has since applied the experience that she gained in this field to sucessfully move in to a career in Human Resources.

Shirley joined Peakdale molecular in June 2007 and was appointed Head of HR in January 2010.

Her role involves ensuring Peakdale utilises the best possible HR practices across miltiple sites, as well as contributing to the long-term company strategy.
